Indiana won the first leg of the Big Ten Rugby sevens season with a win over Illinois 54-10 in Ann Arbor Michigan. Purdue fought off a tough MSU team for third place.
Predicting an AIC vs. Kutztown final was easy, but for each team it took all they had in the semis to make it to the final match at Kutztown University.
The City Six was originally born out of the EPRU Collegiate Division in 2010. The teams that traditionally make up the City Six include Penn, Villanova, St. Joe's, Temple, LaSalle and Drexel.
For spring 2015, the Empire Rugby Conference will be hosting a Rugby 7s series at several member universities. The second leg of the series takes place at Stony Brook on March 28th.
Mount Saint Mary’s University won the cup final and the bid to play at NSCRO Mid-Atlantic 7s Championship. Albright College took second place. Widener University won the shield final with Franklin & Marshall’s blue team taking second place.
The second leg of the Empire Sevens Series returns to Stony Brook University on March 28. Dartmouth defeated Kutztown 29-19 in the first round of the sevens series on March 7th.
