Dartmouth Wins 1st 2015 Stony Brook Sevens

Dartmouth took the first and fourth slots in the first leg of the 2015 Empire Sevens series at the Stony Brook Sevens today, Saturday, March 7th.

On a cold day on the campus of Stony Brook University, rugby was played. With a couple of feet of snow on the ground from recent storms, the Stony Brook home team cleared just enough of the turf to start spring sevens on the east coast. The Stony Brook Sevens is the first in a series of three Empire Conference Sevens tournaments and the first of many sanctioned American Collegiate Rugby Championship Sevens tournaments.

After four matches in pool play Stony Brook matched up against the Dartmouth White team for the Plate. The home team won the contest pulling away 35-0. In the final, the Dartmouth Green team squared off against Kutztown University. Dartmouth won a well contested battle 29-19. In the 5th Place match Colgate defeated Syracuse 36-0.
