Dartmouth University
The Dartmouth Rugby Football Club (or DRFC) was founded in 1951, and competes in the Ivy Rugby Conference against its traditional Ivy League rivals. The DRFC also plays in the Varsity Cup and the USA Sevens Collegiate Rugby Championships.
The Dartmouth RFC is currently the dominant program in the Ivy Rugby Conference, finishing the fall 2014 season with a 7-0 conference record for its its 8th straight Ivy XVs title and sweeping the Ivy Sevens fall tournament.
The Big Green kicked off its spring 2015 season with a strong showing at the Las Vegas Invitational, racking up a 3-2 record (without team captain Madison Hughes, who was playing on the US national team) to reach the plate semifinals. This included a 19-17 victory over Rugby East Conference powerhouse Wheeling Jesuit.
The Dartmouth rugby team comprises more than 60 students and often fields more than three sides on a given weekend during the fall term. The team is coached by Gavin Hickie.
