Columbia 1 Blue

Columbia University Rugby Football Club (CURFC) is a Columbia University club sports team. The team competes in the Ivy Rugby Conference, Division I AA. Columbia has a great rugby tradition in both sevens and fifteens. The team welcomes all students interested in the great sport of rugby.

Columbia qualified for the spring 2016 Ivy championships and competes in several spring sevens tournaments including the Bermuda 7s in March and the Kutztown Sevens in April. 

History: Columbia Alumni Form the Old Blue Rugby Football Club (OBRFC)

In the Spring of 1963, the Columbia University rugby club alumni created the Old Blue RFC. The Old Blues began playing in the fall of 1963. Bill Campbell was, by consensus, chosen the first Old Blue captain; and Pat Moran, Dick Donelli, Bill Smith and Paul Zimmerman played fifteens competition that fall. Though their 15s start in the Eastern Rugby Union wasn't great, on November 30, 1963 Campbell captained the first OBRFC 7s side to the NY Sevens title, their first championship.
