ALS Challenge to Benefit Rugby Player/Referee Paul McCluskey

September 25, 2017 – The 2nd Annual ALS “Ice Bucket Challenge” will take place at CJ Sparrow Pub & Eatery in Cheshire, CT, at 2 PM on Sunday, October 1. Funds will be raised for long-time Connecticut rugby player and referee Paul McCluskey by fundraiser entrant John Broker.

Money raised for Paul will be split between ALS research and an education fund for Paul’s sons. This fundraiser will be part of a larger event raising money for people battling ALS.

How to Donate to the “Ice Bucket Challenge”

Money can be donated at the event, directly to Paul’s team spearheaded by Broker, or through GoFundMe site (which can be found here »).

McCluskey will be on hand for the event, and would like to raise awareness of the cost of battling ALS by showing some of the equipment that assists him in his daily routine. Discussing the event, McCluskey stated, “The Ice Bucket Challenge at CJ Sparrows is exactly the kind of event that originally brought a view of ALS and its horrible effects to the masses. I’m proud of John Broker for continuing to keep ALS in the forefront of peoples minds, and I am very proud to be asked to be part of this awesome day.”

Broker, in working to raise funds for Paul, said, “As soon as I was challenged by the CJ Sparrow owners to participate, I jumped at the chance to work with Paul to raise money and awareness. Paul is on of the great characters of rugby, and it is an honor to help.”

CJ Sparrow owner John Miller, said further “As part of our efforts to be a positive community partner, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has been incredibly well-received. We love that the rugby community is getting involved with Paul and John, they have always showed big for events like this, adding a lot of fun and generosity.”
