URI Rugby Celebrates 50th Anniversary as a Club Sport
On April 29th, 2017, the URI Rugby Club celebrated their 50th Anniversary of being on campus with an alumni game and reception. The team, founded in 1966, had a record of 3-1-2 in their inaugural season. Since then, the club has continued to grow and saw a lot of success. In 1986, the team competed in the New England Championships which was their greatest achievement to that date.
