Bowdoin College (W)
Bowdoin College Women’s Rugby has a long, winning history and holds an elite status among collegiate women’s rugby programs. The Polar Bears are one of just eight squads in the nation with varsity status, and have continued their rich tradition of academic and athletic success at the USA Rugby Division II level since making the move from club to varsity in 2003.
Bowdoin plays its league games in the fall in the New England Small College Rugby Conference. A shorter spring season features a slate of ‘friendlies’, a local All-Maine Tournament and the introduction of 7-a-side rugby, thanks to its inclusion in the Olympics. The team is coached by MaryBeth Mathews.
