Penn State 75 @ West Virginia 5
Penn State took on West Virginia this weekend in Morgantown in a big Rugby East contest. The Nittany Lions defeated the Mountaineers 75-5 to remain unbeaten and solidify their second-place position in the Rugby East (one point behind Army, who defeated Wheeling Jesuit over the weekend).
The Mountaineers lost a tough one to Notre Dame College last weekend in their final preseason game, by a score of 54-15. The team has suffered some injuries to key players but feels confident going into their inaugural season of Rugby East play. West Virginia moves to Division IA after competing in the D1AA Keystone Conference last season.
Penn State improved its record to 2-1 (2-0, Rugby East) last Saturday by defeating Wheeling Jesuit, 38-33. This weekend is the team’s first meeting with the Mountaineers inside the Rugby East Conference.
Below, WVU Coach Glover discusses the Penn State game this weekend and the massive challenge ahead of the Mountaineers.
