Spectators at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex and a worldwide online audience were treated to an amazing display of rugby Saturday at the #ACRC7s. In a day that saw close-fought contests, upsets and a few blowouts under occasionally rainy skies, there was no shortage of intense, physical play.
Saturday Pool Play Highlights
Highlights included Dark Horse University of Hartford upsetting #1 seed Miami University 21-14 (scrappy Hartford would also give the powerful Kutztown second side a fight later in the day), Bentley battling top-10 Temple in a defensive showdown that went to the Owls by one try, and some amazing physical feats from both AIC and Temple in a chippy afternoon match that ended with an AIC victory.
Live streaming and play-by-play was provided by Ryan Ginty and his team at Next Level Rugby. After the action, players gathered at The Eagle's Nest in Virginia Beach for a post-match party and announcement of Sunday's draw.
