This year’s tournament includes 2015 ACRC7s champion Kutztown University; 10-time national semifinalist Penn State; perennial powerhouses St. Bonaventure, Delaware, St. Joe’s, James Madison, Temple and Stony Brook; and local Tidewater favorites Hampton Heat Elite, among many others.
As noted by Goff Rugby Report, URugby Sevens Virginia Beach is the most open of the three major sevens tournaments this spring—“if you want to play, you can play"—and as an early national sevens event, is a great way for teams to sharpen their skills and raise their profile.
Check the URugby Website for updates as more teams commit to Virginia Beach (last year’s tournament included 20 men’s college teams from as far away as Massachusetts and Ohio).
Full Weekend of Rugby
Matches will be held Friday night under the lights, all day Saturday into Saturday night, with finals to be held on Sunday. The Virginia Beach Sportsplex will be electric with teams, fans, families, local rugby clubs and volunteers.
Great Facilities, High-Profile Competition
Located a 15-minute drive from the ocean, the Virginia Beach Sportsplex is designed for major sporting events. The Sportsplex is a three-level facility with lights, modern locker rooms, luxury boxes, concessions, a souvenir shop and state-of-the-art turf field.
The event, matches and participating teams will be heavily promoted with live updates on social media, the URugby website and other major sports media. All the action will be lived-streamed worldwide by Next Level Rugby.
