University of North Texas claimed the SWC championship victory last night by defeating Texas State by a score of 32-15. Their win, combined with their undefeated regular season sealed the championship.
According to the rules established by the SWC Board of Members (Presidents of each team), any team going undefeated in regular season play is automatically crowned the SWC Champion.
"The SWC congratulates UNT on it's outstanding performance this season, and we are excited to have both UNT and Texas State represent the SWC in Charlotte later this month," commented SWC Commissioner Clayton Jewett.
