Exiles in the Black With Elite American HS Division Win
The Maryland Exiles Black took the first-ever elite high school division cup with a 24-0 win over NJ Blaze White at the 2015 Surfside Sevens.
One of two Exiles sides competing in the elite division, the Black shook off formidable opposition from the likes of Greenwich High School and the Wilmington Colts over two days of intense rugby, part of the American High School Sevens Championships (AHS7s) at Surfside Sevens.
New Jersey Blaze White bested an excellent Atlantis team to make the Cup final, while the Exiles defeated Greenwich in the semis. The Cup match featured superior ball handling and defense from the Exiles, who prevented a Blaze team that outscored opponents 81-22 on Saturday from breaking through.
Greenwich overcame Atlantis 29-7 to take third place.
